Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said it is important that all ongoing corruption trials should be concluded promptly.
Osinbajo made the declaration yesterday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja while meeting with the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) chaired by Professor Itse Sagay.
The vice president, who expressed satisfaction with the anti-corruption war, urged anti-graft agencies to step up their engagement with the public.
“How we communicate what is going on regarding corruption is important. There are still those who think a politician who steals is some kind of Robin Hood, instead of being vilified. Some people believe that if ‘my kinsman steals, it is ok.’
“It is important to completely de-legitimise corruption, especially through the way it is communicated,” Osinbajo stated.
The vice president affirmed that the PACAC had given credibility to the anti-corruption war.
In his remarks, Professor Sagay called for a harmonized national anti-corruption strategy for the Federal Government.
He said the committee had engaged with all anti-corruption agencies as well as the police and the judiciary.
