The Defence Headquarters yesterdays allayed the fears of Nigerians that the dreaded Islamist group Boko Haram has concluded plans to unleash terror on the south-west.

In a statement made available to DailyGlobeWatch in Abuja, Col. Rabe Abubakar, the Acting Director of Defence Information said:

'“The attention of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has been drawn to a story published by a section of the media claiming impending attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some south western states of the country.

“This story is not only baseless but also lacks substance in its entirety, hence should be disregarded. Of more worrisome is the claim that the terrorists have infiltrated the western states.

“While the military and other security agencies have made tremendous successes in degrading and decimating the terrorists who are now in disarray having lost their Centre of gravity, camps and their source of logistics”.

He reassured Nigerians that there is no such planned attack  and advised everyone to disregard the rumour and go about their normal business.
